Percent dry weight (biomass) increases in corn growth for 300 and 600 ppm increases in the air's CO2 concentration

12 Mar 2025 | Science Notes

From the CO2Science Archive: Corn, or Zea mays L., is one of the most important food crops in the world, and furthermore is big business. And corn seems to welcome extra CO2. CO2Science reports that from 1979 to 2020 there were 60 experiments showing that an extra 300 ppm in CO2 raises corn growth by an average of 32.1%, and there were 16 experiments showing that an extra 600 ppm CO2 raised corn growth on average by 27.6%. That’s quite the pop.
