All tipping points all the time

31 Jan 2024 | OP ED Watch

According to a Heatmap Daily piece called “The Last Gasp of Winter Sports”, snow is all but done. “A new study published in Nature this month found that human-driven climate change is responsible for dramatically shrinking the Northern Hemisphere’s seasonal snowpack. While that is grave news for local ecosystems and water reservoirs, it’s also a bummer for people like me, who love to ski.” Which is strange since the Northern Hemisphere is seeing snow cover well above average, and in North America the trend is actually up in many places. But if the theory and the facts conflict, alarmists have a simple solution.

Hence the proliferation of “tipping points”, which amount to saying even though there’s no real evidence of a crisis in the actual data, one looms in the models. And so “Extreme weather threatens world’s biggest carbon store as the rainforest is already close to tipping point”. As John Shewchuk commented, “Funny how climate alarmists claim everything they see is extreme weather, while the vast majority of the rest of the planet is experiencing extreme climatic grandeur.” But it’s only because like fools we’re looking at what is happening not at what models say is going to happen.

  1. The very same mainstream media,45-50 years ago used to predict a coming Ice Age much sooner than expected. In as little as 100 years.
We've all seen the letter from faculty at Stanford Univ. in 1972 sent to President Nixon, warning him of this possibility, and urging him to
adopt policies to address a coming Ice Age.And the news clip same year,Walter Cronkite of CBS News asking the same thing:Are we headed for
another Ice Age much sooner than anyone expected? You'll NEVER hear MSM talk about those archived,non-retractable statements now.
Nor the 1978 "In Search Of..." segment with Leonard Nimoy, talking about that very subject.
    Like it never even happened!
