The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, is so woke he wants to ban public transit. Yes, you read that right. Obviously private cars are getting the chop in the name of fighting climate change. But he’s also taking aim at buses, those notorious fume-belching petri dishes that until moments ago activists insisted we all should take for the good of the climate. Alas they too run on fuel so hoof it, you carbon-spewing sack of lard.

Believe it or not, the relevant local Transit for London authority had been weaned off government subsidies in favour of government-mandated prices for its monopoly services. (Well, you take what you can get.) But of course revenue plummeted with the quarantine, by about 90%, and so like transit systems around the world TfL now has its hat out. While it’s running ads telling people not to use its services.

The situation is one more reminder of what life would be like under the Green New Deal. As the New York Post editorialized bluntly, “If you like the locked-down US economy, you’ll love the Green New Deal”. Even in California it seems they did not, as a desperate Democratic governor seeks to gut climate spending. But to a man with a green hammer, everything looks like CO2.

Incidentally CNN put Greta Thunberg on a panel on “Coronavirus – Facts and Fears”. What ever happened to “You’re not a climate scientist”?
