Looking for Christmas-themed plants in the CO2Science data base we didn’t find any mistletoe or holly. We did find the Holly-Leaved Daisy Bush (Olearia ilicifolia Hook), which alas turns out to be a member of the daisy family but will nevertheless have to do for our Christmas edition. In the one study done in 2006 an extra 300 ppm CO2 was found to boost its photosynthesis rate by 79%. So let’s hope Santa brings all the good little holly and daisy bushes some wonderful CO2 not just one day a year but all 365.
