From the CO2Science Archive: Avena fatua L. or wild oat has managed to spread around the world and is considered an invasive plant in many places. But CO2 is no respecter of persons, or, in this case, plants, boosting the growth of crops and weeds alike. From 1995 to 2006 there were eight experiments looking at how wild oats respond to an extra 300 ppm in the air, and the result was an average gain of 32.9% in plant biomass. CO2 has a wild side too.
