Percent photosynthesis (net CO2 exchange rate) increases for apricots following 300 and 600 ppm increases in the air's CO2 concentration

28 Aug 2024 | Science Notes

From the CO2Science archive: With the late summer fruit season approaching we turn to the effects on Prunus armeniaca L. (apricots) of extra CO2. In 2007 there were 4 studies done looking at the effect of an extra 300 ppm, observing an average 62.8% increase in photosynthesis (Standard error 4.2%). There were also 4 studies looking at the effects of 600 ppm extra CO2. The result was 97.5% greater photosynthesis (s.e. 9.7%). Those apricots are grateful for all the CO2 you send their way.
