  1. As a long term resident of sunny South Australia, 71 years in fact, who's survived yet another one of those 50°c days, I can report it wasn't a disaster... again.
What is interesting about these so called 50° days is when one checks out how long it was over the top hot, it turns out, as when I checked a few years ago after a similar brain frying day, it was the record breaking maximum for twenty minutes! Depending on where you where of course.
This current hot spell mentioned in the video was never 50° here or in Adelaide (capital) except maybe in Oodnadatta or somewhere equally distant and well inland.
We are now experiencing another hot spell, today, Saturday the 15th of March, 2 weeks into autumn and it's 41°c where I am. Again, what's interesting is the predicted maximum is bright red and says 42 but when I look at the hourly predictions, the max is only 41 and 40. This has been common for all of summer except one day when the hourly max was actually higher than the predicted daily maximum. Just to be sure, hot spells in March, in S.A. are common, well at least in my 71 years anyway.
It used to be common that the first rains fell around Easter although that seems to be variable this past 20 years, but don't mention the weather machine.
