In this feature we give you some inane sounding, anti-science denialist propaganda which the ever-vigilant Facebook fact-checkers can pounce on to censor, if not get you banned for life and fired from your job. Except it then turns out to be a paraphrase of conclusions from the IPCC and below the fold we give you the source of the underlying quote which you can then give to the Facebook censors so they might begin to realize that they’ve been listening to activists (or politicians) so long they’re the ones now out of touch with the science. This week’s bait: “Newsflash: warming isn’t making the climate ‘more extreme’. It’s probably making it less extreme. Anyone who says temperatures are getting more extreme is peddling fake news.”

The source for this too-hot-to-handle item is the 2013 IPCC Report on Managing Risks Associated with Extreme Weather, Chapter 3 Page 124:

One approach for evaluating whether the climate is becoming more extreme would be to determine whether there have been changes in the typical range of variation of specific climate variables. For example, if there was evidence that temperature variations in a given region had become significantly larger than in the past, then it would be reasonable to conclude that temperatures in that region had become more extreme. More simply, temperature variations might be considered to be becoming more extreme if the difference between the highest and the lowest temperature observed in a year is increasing. According to this approach, daily temperature over the globe may have become less extreme because there have generally been greater increases in mean daily minimum temperatures globally than in mean daily maximum temperatures, over the second half of the 20th century.

If that sounds very different from what politicians and corporations keep saying, it’s because they only listen to alarmists, and they missed the bend in the road where the alarmists long ago stopped listening to the science.
