Overheating no longer cool

19 Nov 2025 | News Roundup

The doomsters are not only trying to downplay climate alarmism, but they now want us to think they never believed it for a second. Zeke Hausfather was until recently a reliable media go-to for doom-and-gloom climate quotations who posted stuff like “This month was, in my professional opinion as a climate scientist – absolutely gobsmackingly bananas”, and wrote stuff like: “the further we push the climate beyond where it has been for the past few million years, the greater and more unpredictable the risks become.” But now he sneers at such flimflam: “Outside a fringe community of climate doomers, there are few who think that climate change could realistically threaten the extinction of the human race (though some folks need to be a bit cautious about throwing around the term “existential threat” willy nilly).” Yeah, fringe doomers like U.S. President Joe Biden or Canada’s Supreme Court or all the world leaders who fawned over Greta Thunberg (pre-Hamas edition). Not to mention all the scientists who nodded approvingly along the way rather than calling any of them out. It was no fringe, and even if they are finally realizing how crazy they sounded they don’t get to pretend they never said it.

Especially if they continue saying it, like UN Secretary-General raving to applause at the pre-COP World Leaders Climate Action Summit also in Belém (they can’t meet and pontificate often enough, it seems):

“Science now tells us that a temporary overshoot beyond the 1.5 limit – starting at the latest in the early 2030s – is inevitable…. Even a temporary overshoot will have dramatic consequences. It could push ecosystems past irreversible tipping points, expose billions to unlivable conditions, and amplify threats to peace and security…. This is moral failure – and deadly negligence…. the 1.5°C limit is a red line for humanity.”

Expose billions to unlivable conditions. In which you die. Won’t someone from the climate science establishment tell this man to shut up? Anyone? Zeke? Or some other “world leader”? Lest we think it’s not just a fringe, we mean?

Or the Guardian bleating re COP30 that:

“There is still a chance for the world to avoid the worst ravages of climate breakdown and return to the goal of 1.5C if governments take concerted action on greenhouse gas emissions, a new assessment argues.”

Climate breakdown. The worst ravages. And nothing from the scientists who insist such thinking only belongs to fringe doomers. Or consider a piece in Climate Cosmos in July, puzzlingly called “Why I No Longer Believe in Net Zero – And Why It Matters” given that it was written by the “Climate Cosmos Team” not one single person. It said it was all a bunch of greenwashing and hocus pocus about carbon removal and fantasy technologies and howled stuff like “scientists tell us we need a 43 per cent decrease by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050 to avoid catastrophic warming” and wound up “There is no other way to solve the climate emergency than immediate and massive reduction in fossil fuel emissions.”

Fringe, you say? Then why didn’t you say so sooner? But if it’s just a fringe, it’s a big shaggy one. And if you were once in it, a mea culpa is welcome, especially as no one preaches quite like a repentant sinner. But tiptoeing away won’t do.
